Happy Holidays All! And thanks again to all who supported the Mesa County Dems this year. Enjoy safe and fun holidays however you spend them.

While 2016 is in the books, we have lots to work on in 2017. There is rising interest here to work on progressive causes and to help those in need. Several local groups are forming independent of the Democrats to work on some of these issues; we will share their names and posts as we get them so you can support them if you choose.
One powerful group that has sprung up through the Koinonia Church here is a yet unnamed coalition of 20+ churches and nonprofits concerned about the country’s direction. Mesa County Democrats is involved and helping plan the Grand Valley Week of Action, which will be around Martin Luther King Day and the Inauguration. Like this group on Facebook to keep yourself in the loop. The MC Dems are helping on the local Million Women’s March on Saturday, January 21, 2017, in Downtown Grand Junction. we’re hoping hundreds — women and men — will turn out, so tell your friends and save the date! Here’s some information about the March:
Gathering at 12:30 p.m. at 7th and Grand behind the old R-5 school
Marching on Main from 7th to 2nd St.
Rally with speakers and music to follow
Ending approx. 3 p.m.
Key Messages;
1.  This March is not a protest. It is a statement that women and girls are valued no matter how old they are, what they look like or what they do.
2.  Women and girls make important contributions to our lives. Women and girls have played important roles in our history.
3.  Women’s rights are human rights.
Men and children are also welcome to march, and marchers are welcome to make positive signs to carry corresponding to the above messages.

The next Mesa County Dems meeting is Monday, January 23, at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome.

A reminder that the Mesa County Dems reorganization meeting is on Saturday, February 4, starting at 9:30 a.m. Note: It will likely be at the central library, but we’ll confirm that in January and let you know.
