New rules issued by Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services eliminate the rule that requires health insurance companies to offer free coverage for contraceptives. The change allows wide range of employers, including nonprofits, private firms and publicly-traded companies, to stop offering free contraceptives entirely through the health insurance plans they provide employees if they claim to have a “sincerely held religious or moral objection.” Fifty five million women benefitted from the Obama rule, a feature of so-called “Obamacare.” Trump’s latest roll back joins a host of other actions his administration has taken to harm women, including rolling back protections against sexual assault on college campuses, failing to defend equal pay for women, sabotaging Obamacare to try and make it fail, attacking Planned Parenthood, re-institution of the global “gag rule” on abortion, limiting Title IX guarantees and championing changes in health insurance that would eliminate vaccines, well-child visits, eye exams and other coverage,
